Agitatoria 19: From neo-liberalism to green capitalism? or: From Seattle to Copenhagen![]() Update: A Norwegian translation of 20 Theses against Green Capitalism is now availableThe climate crisis is a crisis of capitalism to a much larger degree than the current financial crisis. While the financial crisis is the crisis of neo-liberalism, the climate crisis is the crisis of capitalism's unpaid workhorse, carbon fuel. Without carbon fuels modern capitalism is impossible. In Copenhagen in December, the leaders of the world gather to manage the transition to a green capitalism. While trying desperately to solve the climate crisis, green capitalism is nothing but a continuation of neo-liberalism. The carbon quota system, one of the core ideas at Copenhagen climate summit, is in fact the biggest privatisation of natural resources the world has ever seen. It is now possible to own, trade, buy, and sell our atmosphere. The crisis of neo-liberalism has sparked social upheavals all over Europe the last year. Seattle was the birth of a global movement against neo-liberalism, now it is time to give birth to a movement to fight green capitalism. The COP15 summit in Copenhagen will be the first challenge for this new movement. The 10th of October Agitatoria has invited Norwegian and international activists to discuss the COP-meeting in Copenhagen and the current and future challenges. Program:16.00: Climate Justice, by Nina Dessau from Global Migrants for Climate Action There will be an open discussion afterwards, as well as a short meeting for activists planning to go to Copenhagen in December.
